Primošten literary means over-bridged. That’s because the city used to be an island before. The part between the old city and the mainland is artificial/handmade. Unlike most of other cities on the coast, Primošten was built by Croats. You can walk on the promenade all around the small peninsula, or enter the city directly through the city gates and climb to the top of the city. There You will find a small church with cemetery. That’s the signature of all Croatian cities (Religious places are always on the top, because people believed that higher you are, you are the closer to the heaven.) The same motives you will find in Šibenik. From the top of Primošten You can enjoy the beautiful view to the open sea, with no islands in front – straight to Italy.
